Researchers are invited to contribute to a special issue of Work, Aging and Retirement titled “The Dynamics of P–E Fit: Implications for Career Sustainability Across Career Stages.”
How does the fit between people and their work change across a career? This special issue examines how fit with jobs, organisations, and careers develops, is disrupted, and may be restored amid changing priorities, work demands, career transitions, and longer working lives.
The special issue welcomes empirical, conceptual, and methodological papers addressing topics such as:
- How different forms of person-environment fit interact and change across career stages.
- Career shocks, transitions, plateaus, phased retirement, and post-retirement work.
- Age-related motives, lifespan development, and strategies for managing misfit.
- The roles of leadership, HR practices, and age-inclusive work design in maintaining or restoring fit.
- Methods for studying the dynamics of fit and career sustainability over time.
