Critical Perspectives on Career and Career Guidance (COCAG)

Funded by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology), Critical Perspectives on Career and Career Guidance (COCAG) is a four-year European project bringing together researchers from across Europe and beyond. The project will examine how careers are changing in today’s world and consider how public policy and practice can respond. The research focuses on three central questions:

  1. How can we make sense of the challenges and changes affecting careers in the modern world?
  2. How should policymakers respond to these challenges?
  3. How can career guidance practices take a critical approach to better address the needs of individuals in a changing landscape?

COCAG aims to encourage discussion on these issues by supporting collaborative publications, connecting researchers, and exploring new directions for research. The project will also communicate findings to policymakers and practitioners, ensuring that research influences practice and decision-making.

We place strong emphasis on developing the careers of early-stage researchers, offering opportunities to collaborate internationally, publish alongside experienced colleagues, and engage in a range of different academic activities. The project also promotes inclusivity, encouraging partnerships between COST Member Countries, Near Neighbour Countries, and International Partner Countries, with a focus on engaging researchers from Inclusiveness Target Countries. By bringing together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, COCAG seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice, expanding knowledge and improving career guidance policy and delivery.
