Researching career guidance for social justice – ECADOC summer school in Malta (9th-14th June 2019)

During June we (Ronald Sultana, Rie Thomsen and Tristram Hooley) worked with colleagues from ECADOC to run a one week summer school for doctoral researchers working on career guidance.

The summer school was designed with three main aims.

  • Deepening our appreciation and understanding of the links between career guidance and social justice, with all that this implies for the development of career theory, for the mobilisation of research methods, and for practice;
  • Sharing work in progress on doctoral theses, including issues related to epistemology, the politics of research, methodology, and the relationship between research and impact on society; and
  • Considering how early career researchers can best develop their careers and contribute to shaping the field of career development in the future.

We had a wonderful week and will hopefully have more ideas and materials from the event to share on this website soon.
